HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROB-LEM !?@#!!?

You know, I don't normally like to give any hints about my age so.....announcing the following information is the same as pasting it across a freeway billboard just in time for the rush hour traffic to see..."I grew up in the Rabbit Ear antenna generation."

So, when I found a steal of a deal at a garage sale (MANY) years ago, I was thrilled. It has been my constant companion at tub time or while crafting in the garage. Granted it only transmits local programing. If I'm lucky and the air waves are aligned, I receive all five channels! If not... there's nothing a small jiggle or scrap of tin foil can't fix. Like an old pair of scruffy slippers, I loved my Analog TV with all it's imperfections.

"Meet My little friend"

Now, the powers that be have decided to cut analog transmission.
No worries though.... converter boxes are available.

I just had to follow a few easy steps....................

Well, after following these simple instructions of...... placing OHM PROB- A into CONNECTOR- B
with every letter of the alphabet in between and only a few gazillion (WO)MAN hours, I made a connection. Just in time for this update!!!

So now...... I GET TO d-i-s-c-o-n-n-e-c-t everything??!!

Stick a fork in me I'm done (in). I've chosen to relish my TV's stay of execution over the next few months until we must part our ways. I'll honor my TV's wishes and donate my friend into the competent hands of the recycling center where parts will be taken to aid electronic devices in need. Hopefully to those out on a farm in the country where analog is still received and appreciated.

This gives me opportunity to reacquaint myself with my basic cable and develop a greater appreciation for my 71 channels!.................So I thought................. Then we were hit with the news channels 31-71 were subject to a Hi-Def change and would require converter boxes to those lucky recipients who had "ONLY BASIC CABLE!" URRRGGGHHH!!!!!

No problem......there are additional converter boxes for all seven of my TV"s !!!
Just a few more easy steps!!

Your post was delightful!!

Sorry for the frustration and confusion, and the loss of your old and faithful friend.

Don't worry about getting converter boxes. There is not much worth watching on TV anyway.

Blessings,
Barbara Jean

That video cracked me up! My MIL had rabbit ears until 2 years ago when her middle son snapped and bought her a dish.

What am I supposed to do when the cable goes out?? I need a rabbit ear tv to see the local channels!! Why do they have to change everything? I'm not loving Hidef, because now I can see the pores in all my favorite actors faces.... ewwwwww.... LOL

You crack me up! I remember the rabbit ears when I was a kid too... we had a TV that used to broadcast nothing but black and white fuzz for the first half an hour, so we had to remember to turn it on in advance if we even had a prayer of seeing our shows. I can relate!

I hope everything else is good with you! Have a great weekend Sara!

Tee-Hee!! Oh how I can relate!! Until four years ago, I had no desire to own a computer (WHAT!!??) and loved my rabbit ears. Now at 55 I'm computer savvy and run a boutique online. I have satellite, 400 plus channels, HD and DVR! I would be lost without the "record" button! Oh times are changing, I'm in, kicking and screaming all the way~

Thanks so much for visiting my blog, I so enjoyed your post Sara! I hope you can stop by again for a visit, I'll be back too!

I'm laughing at your little friend...not that it isn't cute...but I didn't know anyone still had one of those analog Tv's. I think you'll be happier with an updated version...once its' converted of course!

Hi Sara,
There's something really cozy about having an old TV set. I remember the days of only getting three channels and it was a big deal when we did get cable! I remember watching Gone With the Wind with my Grandma and it was huge around our house. Just enjoy quality time with your TV while you can! Hope you're enjoying your Marie bottle too.
Happy week!

Thank goodness my 88 year old father-in-law broke down and decided to buy cable instead of getting one of these boxes...It would have killed him for sure...

I thought I'd have to get a converter box (I've always done rabbit ears too), but then I found out I mysteriously have cable?!?

Makes me happy, although I only watch one hour of tv a week and I could just catch it online... LOL
